French Snippits

Marmalade:- Most people are aware that Marmalade was initially made in France but not that it is a cure for sea sickness. It's name is reportedly derived from "Mer Malade" which is the "Old French" for "seasickness". So you now know what to eat on your next twinning visit if you suffer "Le Mal de Mer".
Or are its origins Portuguese with its name coming from that for Quince jelly!!!
